The small village of Halfmoon Bay, originally inhabited by the First Nations Shishalh tribe, is now a popular resort on the Sunshine Coast for residents and those who own summer cottages. Halfmoon Bay boasts a warm pleasant climate, and abundance of fresh water and natural foods including shellfish, berries and roots. Halfmoon Bay is accessible from the mainland via the ferry crossing from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale, and Halfmoon Bay is only 25 Km north of Langdale on route to the ferry crossing connecting the other half of the Sunshine Coast from Sechelt to Earls Cove.
